British Safety Council comments on the expansion of the ULEZ scheme to Greater London

British Safety Council

Commenting on the expansion of the ULEZ scheme (from 29 August) to cover Greater as well as Central London, Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of British Safety Council said:

“Expanding ULEZ is important, not just to cut pollution where people live and work, but also because of the many thousands of people who work outdoors in their jobs. This includes anyone from a street cleaner, courier or builder to a gardener, teacher or security guard. They all deserve to breathe clean air as much as the rest of us.

“It’s right that more funding has been made available to support Londoners to transition to cleaner vehicles, and all of us can do more to improve the air we breathe.”

British Safety Council has been campaigning since 2019 to raise awareness of the impact that air pollution can have on the health of outdoor workers. For more on Time to Breathe, please visit: https://britsafe.org/campaigns-policy/time-to-breathe-air-pollution-campaign/time-to-breathe/.
