4. HOMEOWNER AID EXTENDED
Benefits for homeowners are to be extended as the government seeks to prevent a cascade of repossessions. The Support for Mortgage Interest benefit will be raised to include mortgages up to £200,000.

7. POOR MATHS SKILLS 'COST £2.4bn'
A lack of basic maths skills cost the UK more than £2bn a year, a report by KPMG has said. Children who struggle with maths are more likely to be unemployed or commit crime in the future, the report found.
