OFTEC respond to COP26 announcement

OFTEC

1 min read

It is of course the right decision to delay COP26 and focus on the UK’s response to the current global crisis.

However, the climate change emergency, whilst not as immediately urgent, still needs fighting.

OFTEC will continue to push ahead with its crucial work with wider industry and government to deliver a sustainable low carbon liquid fuel alternative to kerosene which will provide the UK’s 1.53 million oil using households with the most cost-effective, practical way to reduce emissions from home heating. With the right policy support, a 100% fossil-free liquid fuel could be in use by 2035 – well ahead of the UK’s 2050 net zero target.

The need for simple, low cost solutions such as sustainable low carbon liquid fuels will be even more important in a post COVID-19 world and it is critical this option is included in future heat policy.”
