At the Guinness Westminster pub quiz held in Whitehall last night, one of the questions was particularly apt:
Which politician enjoys a Guinness after giving his major speeches?
A Tory quiz team, comprising Damian Green, Eleanor Laing, James Gray and the PM's affable PPS Des Swayne, actually got the answer wrong.
Which is all the more surprising, given widespread coverage* that David Cameron himself is the man with a penchant for the black stuff.
Heck, the PM's infamous 'vanity snapper' Andrew Parsons even took the above shot at last year's party conference.
Could it be that Des, Damian & Co really aren't all that close to the PM? Or could it be that his fondness for the Irish stout is rarely seen?
*FOOTNOTE: When leader of the Opposition, Cameron gave an interview to Shortlist magazine in which he explained his love of darts and revealed he drank Guinness from cans. Some Irishmen would say that the can-drinking is just wrong.
UPDATE: The Tory MPs' team were not alone in their failure to hit the quiz heights. I hear that one Liam Fox aide actually thought that Germany was one of the P5 permanent members of the UN Security Council. His boss thinks the world of him so I'm sure he'll be let off with a mere ribbing...

It also looks like he doesn't know how to pour it properly.

The photo's been staged. That is no pint of the black stuff - it hasn't settled yet.
