Lords to sit during Commons midterm break

The House of Commons is off next week on their half-term break, or constituency recess as MPs prefer to call it. They will rise on Thursday 9 February, returning to Westminster on Monday 20. However, the Lords, independent-minded as ever, are on a different timetable. Their half term break does not start until 16 February and they will return on 27 February. This means there will be a week where the Lords is sitting but not the Commons, and vice versa. The Easter Recess is more co-ordinated, with the Lords rising one day after the Commons, on 28 March, and both Houses returning on 16 April. The Queen's Speech will be delivered on May 25.
