When over 70% of the population think that the focus of same sex marriage should not be a priority when there are so many more important things for the Government to be doing, Nigel Farage has highlighted the reason for this strange fixation.
Farage said,
"Peter Tatchell has put together a case that is going to the European Court of Human Rights, knowing how the court has become so politicised there is no doubt that his case will succeed, whether or not people in Britain agree. Worse still, the Government knows this and rather than telling the court to mind its own business it is rushing through a rule change. Its consultation document on the rule change should be challanged by the Advertising Standards Commission as it makes it clear that there is only one option acceptable to the Government. Opposition will be ignored, no matter how reasonable, how popular."
"The Government says that it is 'Not aware of the Court case'. I find it hard to believe that a court case at a court with the power to instruct the Government, on an issue on which they are prepared to go to the wall with ther own core supporters is something that they have not even noticed. If that is true then they are utterly negligent."
