Labour press release
Maria Eagle MP, Labour's Shadow Transport Secretary, responding to the averting of strike action in the fuel tanker driver's dispute, said:
"We welcome the news that a strike has been avoided. Families and businesses across the country will be relieved by the news, particularly given the Tory-led Government's scaremongering on this issue.
"Throughout this process Labour has been clear of the need for the Government to work with both sides to secure a resolution. The decision by David Cameron and his ministers to play politics with such an important issue has been completely irresponsible. It’s now time for the Prime Minister to apologise to the millions of people inconvenienced by the recent unnecessary panic and chaos at the pumps, caused by his out of touch Government."
