The love/hate relationship between the Smiths and the Prime Minister rages on. Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has further extended his ban on David Cameron from liking the band on Radio 4's Today programme.
Marr said:
“He's entitled to like whatever he likes as long as he doesn't say it.
"I told him to stop saying that he likes the band, I told him I forbid him to like it. He shouldn't like us. We're not his kind of people. I don't think I could say it any better. I think forbid is a really funny word."
Former members of the Smiths have form on this: Morrissey has criticised to PM for being a fan while Marrpreviously said the band would only reform if the Government broke up.
Update: Speaking on his visit to India, Mr Cameron said he would "go on and listen", regardless of the warning.
