Borisgate

It sounds like Boris Johnson had a bit of a ‘plebgate’ moment earlier today.

Addressing reports that he had sworn at a group of builders after getting lost in Southwark, the Mayor turned to the ‘Andrew Mitchell defence’ of admitting he swore, but not ‘at’ builders.

He told ITV London:

“I certainly didn’t swear at any builders. It may be that, as I cycled away from a blocked road, it may be that a few epithets of a general and existential nature escaped me but I certainly didn’t swear at anybody.”
