Surprised Voter

You've got to admit, it is funny reading a Telegraph reader moan about the iniquities of the voting system. The idea that Labour could have the most seats with the smallest vote share is patently wrong. But what if this new poll that puts the LDs top is true? And they get the fewest seats with the highest vote. What would you suggest then? Or is it only unfair if it hurts the Tories? Would you support PR if this was the outcome, or would you keep with a patently unfair system as, well, the Tories may win the next one, what? This election could see the biggest shake up since 1910. And you know what's really funny. If it happens, it will all be because of the debates. The Tories wanted the debates because they knew that DC is a much better public speaker than GB, and thought they'd simply win a PR style battle. They wouldn't need substance. But they didn't factor in NC. Just as young and fresh faced. Just as good at public schoolboy debating. But actually offering substance and a change from the old two parties. DC never had the wave of public support that Blair had in 97. He just had the 30% Tory base vote with 10-15% of change/protest vote. What's really telling is Sat's poll that shows his personal rating fell from 53% to 43%. Now, if the LDs build on this, we could see the Tories flatline with their base vote, and the LDs pick up the change and protest vote. Hilarious. He'd be hoist on his own petard. Can't wait to hear him try to argue against PR if the Libs get close to (or more than) his vote total, explaining why he should be PM but that the voting system shouldn't change. Good God, I'd love it if this changed the voting system and we had a real 3 party system. We could have a centre left govt without the old union hard left types, or even, maybe one day, a centre right govt without all the sobs to the far right Cerberus that DC obviously had planned. This could kill the left-wing and right-wing extremists of both parties. The far left could form their sort of New Commie party and the far right could join UKIP as a very British (understated) Le Pen type party. And all because DC thought he'd win the debates easily like he won the Tory leadership one.

Wrong paste on wrong site. Was meant to be a reply to a Torygraph reader moaning that it would be unfair that Labour could get most seats with fewer votes than the Tories. Had this page open as I heard about this new poll and wanted to see if it was true. And it left out all my line spaces. Still. Hilarious if true.

never , never , never will we forgive the tories for the thathcher years , a lab lib dem coalition would be awesome , and give gordon brown a wee break hes better than what you guys make him out to be , when he talks he sounds strong and knowledgeable on the issues . labour lib dem coalition thats what we need , but labor neeeds to get up around were the tories are , its only a 3 % jump , good luck to gordon brown and labor and i hope the lib dems do well . but not at the expence of seeing labor decimated .

its time the center left in british politics grew up and this poll will force them two , the lib dems and labour if we work together we can change the voteing syestem to proportional representation , and as a block working together keep the rotton conservitive corpretists out of office for a long time . if you libe dems get the most votes perhaps nick clegg should even be pm . but that would require a huge amount of humility bye my labour friends . anyway good luck to both labour and the lib dems .

Who are being polled? I know in our area the conservative vote has risen after the Clegg hot air. see what Adam Boulton does on Thursday.
