Projection update: The view from the regions

An exclusive PoliticsHome/YouGov poll of over 11,000 voters last week reveals that the Lib Dems have made gains across the country, and have had particularly noteworthy successes in traditional Labour heartlands such as Wales and the North East.

Earlier today, the PoliticsHome Poll Centre published its latest electoral projection.  The analysis of all polls from the second leaders' debate pointed to the Conservative party being thirty six seats short of a majority in a hung parliament.

The latest set of regional voting intention figures, exclusively provided by a PoliticsHome/YouGov poll of over 11,000 voters, provide the background to the latest projection.

The regional figures lay bare the extent of the Lib Dem surge in popularity, and demonstrate that in key areas, the party's gains have been made at the expense of Labour.

The Lib Dems' biggest successes have been in the North East, the East Midlands, and Wales.  In each of these regions they have gained more than ten percentage points since last week.

Support for the Conservatives has remained constant since last week in Wales, but has fallen in every other region.  Support for Labour has fallen across the country, with the party’s biggest losses in Wales and the North East.

If these results were repeated at a general election it would result in some extremely high regional swings.  For example, in the North East there would be a swing of 13 points from Labour to the Liberal Democrats.  The equivalent swing in Wales would be 18 points.  Assuming a uniform regional swing, this would result in some remarkable results.  For example, Labour would lose all three Newcastle seats to the Lib Dems (including that of chief whip, Nick Brown).

I can't decide whom to blame: is it our new government or it's just the world crisis. But in any option all my research paper services are closed.

I don't think we can blame our government for this, it's our fault this time.
