Gordon Brown may have seen off his critics for now - but the knives will be out again after the summer.
That's the verdict of three quarters of the PoliticsHome Phi100 panel - Britain's most authoritative survey of inside and expert political opinion.
The Phi100 is a collection of 100 of the best-informed political brains in the country, including senior politicians from all the main parties, leading media commentators, party strategists, academics and think tank heads.
Three quarters take the view that there will be another coup attempt in the near future. This opinion is shared across the political spectrum.
Just seventeen per cent disagree.
A parliamentarian on the right said: 'There could be another go later this year if the indecision in Government and the frustration in the cabinet gets too much for the potential replacements for Brown.'
A Lib Dem strategist said that it 'depends on the Norfolk by-election (and other unforeseeable events)'.
A number of panellists predicted a coup but were sceptical about its likely success. A non-aligned media panellist reckoned: 'There may be one more failed attempt in the autumn. After that - Armageddon beckons.'
