source icon The shared hypocrisy about tax and spend

To put it politely, Gordon Brown and David Cameron are being less than candid about what it will take to fix Britain’s public finances. The prime minister deliberately understates the ferocity of the coming squeeze on public spending; the Tory leader sidesteps questions about the inevitable tax increases.

The Tory full-scale retreat from their blood-curdling threat to cut and cut again, straightaway and savagely, because Britain's revival depended on it, turns out to be a distinctly damp squib.

Where exactly is this 31 billion coming from ? more borrowing !

Major Plonquer

I think his lordshit actually said 'Confucius and Disraeli', not 'confusion and dissaray'. However at the time he had something stuck to the roof of his mouth. Come to think of it he often has something stuck to the roof of his mouth. Also I'd just like to say I do NOT approve of the new user interface. Your website has somehow lost its 'cheap' look which we'll all miss.

J A BROWN

Again we have this unelected disgraced lord pontificating about the Conservatives. I would have thought he would be busy with all his responsibilities trying to sort the mess liebor have got us into. His party continue to tax and spend and will start paying back in 2011. What a stupid plan. Lets get the debt paid off before we lose our credit rating. Just remember those who vote for liebor this man could be your next pm. You will then get what you deserve. Liebor got us in this mess and now blaming the Conservatives for trying to get us out of it. People were given cheap money by a government who have run up astronomical debts. Also the liebor party is bankrupt. They never saved any for a rainy day. Prudence is what gordy called it. The taxpayer is paying the bill for labours spin machine and the salary of this unscrupulous character. Cameron has no baggage and has as much experience as blier did when he took office. Every time this man appears in front of the media it reminds people what mandy is all about. Bring on the election, and then Cameron can see the books and help us out this mess. At the weekend mandy likened Cameron to Terry Wogan. Well mandy who could we compare you to. Suggestions from bloggers would be appreciated. I will start off with Tom Pepper.
