Anti-war protester to go
Anti-war protester Brian Haw has just 11 days to appeal against his removal from Parliament Square, PoliticsHome can reveal.
This morning Mr Haw failed in his attempt to stop an eviction order brought by London Mayor Boris Johnson.
However, a spokesman for the Mayor has admitted today's ruling means that Mr Haw and his home will not be removed from the square until March 28 at the earliest.
"The High Court permitted the defendants to lodge in writing any intention to appeal by 28th March to the Civil Bench at the Court of Appeal. A stay has been permitted until this time," the spokesman said.
"The Court of Appeal had previously made a special case for Brian Haw and Barbara Tucker that they could continue to sleep on the grass area controlled by the GLA on a temporary basis while their case was referred back to the High Court for conclusion in this matter. The High Court has now concluded that neither party should be allowed to continue to sleep on the GLA controlled grass. The perimeter fences will be adjusted accordingly."
Mr Johnson won a High Court case to remove a large peace camp on the square last year, but it was found that it did not apply to Mr Haw so required a fresh judgment.
