Christopher Hitchens dies aged 62
The British author, literary critic and journalist Christopher Hitchens has died aged 62. Mr Hitchens died from pneumonia in Houston, Texas. Vanity Fair - a magazine for which he was a contributing editor - said there would "never be another" like him. The Deputy Prime Minister, who was once an intern for Mr Hitchens, commented on his death saying "he will be massively missed by everyone who values strong opinions and great writing".

Tony Blair also paid tribute to Mr Hitchens, describing him as "an extraordinary, compelling and colourful human being whom it was a privilege to know".
