PM defends religion in politics

PM defends religion in politics
David Cameron made a staunch defence of the role of religion and in politics today as he marked the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible.

In a speech in Christ's Church, Oxford, he declared "We are a Christian country and we should not be afraid to say so". He also said that "'live and let live' has too often become 'do what you choose'".

The Prime Minister went on: "Those who oppose this usually make the case for secular neutrality. They argue that by saying we are a Christian country and standing up for Christian values we are somehow doing down other faiths. And that the only way not to offend people is not to pass judgement on their behaviour. I think these arguments are profoundly wrong."
