Huhne warns of 'semi-detached' status
Chris Huhne has criticised Conservative eurosceptics, saying a more distant relationship with Brussels would mean the UK was “semi-detached” from the European Union.
In an interview with the Independent, the Energy Secretary said: “It is not in the national interest to be in a purely passive relationship, where our interests are being determined by other people.”
Mr Huhne also criticised David Cameron for taking the Conservatives out of the European People’s Party, saying he “can’t help wondering” whether negotiations with the EU would have been more successful if he had not done so.

A more distant relationship would make the UK semi-detatched from the EU ..... Well yes, that's the whole point of it! Semi-detatched is a start, just like housing, then we should aspire to detatched. Good neighbours; possibly friends; cooperating when necessary, but without our neighbours telling us what to do and how to run our lives all the time and billing us for the privilege.

Trouble is that twerps like Huhne want to trap us all in mid-terrace in a ruinously expensive neighbourhood that is rapidly going downhill - persistent noise and abuse from neighbours, several house fires, quite a few dangerous dogs and rubbish all over the street. Time to move, methinks!
