Michael Gove has admitted that exam results may worsen under his new tougher standards, but feels it is important to tell the truth.
The Education Secretary, on Sunday Politics, said despite exam results increasing every year “the real achievements of children on the ground became debased and devalued” because the exams do reflect how well governments are doing.
Mr Gove said: “Absolutely tougher exams. And if that means fewer passes then that's something we will have to accept.”
