Huhne vows to clear name

Huhne vows to clear name
Chris Huhne's decision to step down as Energy Secretary will be a "big loss" for the Cabinet, his former Parliamentary Private Secretary has said.

Jenny Willott said that that Mr Huhne was someone "never shy of putting his views forward" who played a "big part in re-balancing the Coalition".

Mr Huhne was told yesterday that he would face charges along with his ex-wife Vicky Pryce for perverting the course of justice over a 2003 speeding case, but has vowed to clear his name.

Ed Davey has taken on the role as Energy and Climate Change Secretary, but Nick Clegg hinted that there could be a swift return to frontline politics for Mr Huhne if he clears his name.

David Cameron said that his decision was the right one "given the circumstances".
