Times editor had 'no idea' about court case
The editor of The Times has admitted that he had "no idea" about plans by News International's lawyers to unmask an anonymous police blogger through the courts.

James Harding told the Leveson Inquiry that the paper's legal manager, Alastair Brett, did not tell him about the privacy injunction case over the anonymous blogger known as 'NightJack'.

The Metropolitan Police’s failure to inform people they were victims of phone hacking by the News of the World in 2006 and 2007 was unlawful, a judicial review has found.

The review had been sought by Lord Prescott, Chris Bryant, Brian Paddick and others. Speaking to BBC News after the High Court decision, Lord Prescott ruled out seeking damages from the police.

At the Leveson inquiry, the former chair of the Press Complaints Commission Baroness Buscombe accused politicians of "scapegoating" the PCC rather than attacking the newspaper industry.
