MPs: Libya intervention could be 'one-off' due to cuts
An influential committee of MPs has warned that the UK’s intervention in Libya could be a “one-off” due to questions over military resources.
The Defence Select Committee said cuts to the defence budget meant the Government will face “difficult decisions” on its deployment of resources and the UK would still have a “heavy reliance” on US military power.
Responding to the report, Shadow Defence Secretary Jim Murphy warned that the Coalition’s “limited national ambition” meant Britain may “no longer be able to perform such a leading military role in the world”.
