HMRC 'misleading' on tax changes
A letter sent from HMRC advising parents on tax credit changes is "misleading", a leading tax charity has said. The letter - sent to around 1.3m homes - claims that the income limit to get the basic £545 child tax credit is £26,000. However, the Low Income Taxes Reform Group says that figure is for one-child families only, and that larger families earning over £50,000 may still qualify. HMRC admitted the letter was not "worded as well as it could be" but that it was "not incorrect".
