Cameron under pressure from backbench
Tory backbenchers angry with David Cameron and George Osborne over the fallout from the Budget and the fuel crisis have demanded change within the party.
The Daily Telegraph reports calls from a number of MPs across the Conservative party for an overhaul of the way Downing Street, more promotions in a reshuffle of ministerial posts for MPs from working class and northern backgrounds, an MP to work full time as Conservative party chairman, and for Mr Osborne to stop combining his roles as Chancellor and head of Conservative political strategy.
The newspaper reports growing disquiet among backbenchers, with the Prime Minister confronted by senior backbenchers at a private meeting last week of the 1922 Committee executive.
