PM hails Right to Buy boost
A dramatic increase in the discount available to tenants buying their council homes will restore a "vital rung on the property ladder", David Cameron has said. The new discount rate for the Right to Buy scheme gives those who have lived in a property for five years 35% off the sale price, with an extra 1% for each year they have lived in the home. The new policy comes as the Social Landlords Crime and Nuisance Group said plans to scrap ASBOs would leave social landlords "powerless" to intervene with nuisance tenants.
