NUT demand free school assessments
The country's largest teachers' union is considering legal action to force Michael Gove to publish free school impact assessments.

The National Union of Teachers could appeal to the information commissioner over the Education Secretary's refusal to disclose the assessments of the impact on nearby schools, amid concerns the policy is damaging children's education.

NUT General Secretary Christine Blower told the union's conference: "Free schools are creating a market of competing schools that threatens to destabilise existing school provision. They are also creating wasteful surplus places at a time when school budgets are under significant pressure."
