Hunt wants 12-week abortion limit
Jeremy Hunt has called for the time limit for abortions to be halved to 12 weeks.
In an interview with The Times newspaper, the Health Secretary agreed that it was an “incredibly difficult question”, likening the debate on abortion to that on the death penalty.
"Everyone looks at the evidence and comes to a view about when they think that moment is, and my own view is that 12 weeks is the right point for it…It’s just my view about that incredibly difficult question about the moment that we should deem life to start. I don’t think the reason I have that view is for religious reasons.”
Downing Street has distanced the Prime Minister from these comments, emphasising the Government had no plans to reduce the abortion time limit.
