Failing hospitals policy 'made up on the hoof'
The Government is making up its policy for dealing with failing hospitals “on the hoof”, and ministers cannot guarantee quality of care will not be affected, a report from MPs said today.
Chair of the Public Accounts Committee Margaret Hodge accused the Department of Health of not establishing the correct risk protocols to ensure hospitals do not fail.
But Health minister Lord Howe denied "making these rules up" and promised more detailed forthcoming proposals on how to sustain hospitals with financial difficulties.
