NHS budget clawback doubles to £1bn
The amount of money clawed back from the NHS by the Treasury is double what was announced in the Budget, the Health Service Journal reports. The NHS underspent by £1.4bn this year, but only £400m will be rolled over to next year's budget. Andy Burnham, Labour's Shadow Health Secretary, said the Government needed to be "straight" with the public on NHS funding.

Elsewhere the Telegraph reveals that around two thirds of NHS hospitals are receiving financial inducements to put terminally ill patients on the controversial Liverpool Care Pathway.
