The majority of NHS Direct centres could be closed, Unison have claimed.
The union said that the closure of 24 of the 30 sites would cause thousands of staff to be made redundant, whilst the Department of Health responded by saying it had only announced which sites would remain open to carry the new NHS 111 Service and not what would happen to others.
The Shadow Health minister, Jamie Reed, claims the news shows the Prime Minister had “clearly got his NHS priorities all wrong”.
