Welby urges banks to lend to poor
Justin Welby is to make his first political act since being nominated as the next Archbishop of Canterbury today and ask for new legislation that puts pressure on the banks to lend more to poor areas.

He will join other House of Lords peers by tabling an amendment to the Financial Services Bill which would ensure banks are required to publish quarterly details of their lending to small and medium-sized businesses by postcode.
