Tory MP backs 'radical' BBC shake-up
The role of director general at the BBC should be separated from that of editor in chief, some MPs have said. Tory MP Conor Burns told the Financial Times: "I think there’s a strong argument going forward to split the role and have one executive director and one executive editor". Culture Select Committre chair John Wittingdale was more cautious. “I would want to look at it more closely and take some evidence on it, but I can see some arguments in favour of that sort of split,” he said.
