Osborne urges Tories to back gay marriage
The Conservative party must back gay marriage if it wants to win the next general election, George Osborne has said. Writing in the Times, Mr Osborne invoked Margaret Thatcher to call for the party to step up on social policy: "The heart of politics is not political theory, it is people and how they want to live their lives," he said.
