EU to back diluted women director quota proposals
The campaign for a 40% quota of women on company boards is expected to be backed by the EU after being watered down.The initial proposals said companies would be sanctioned if they did not fill the quota. The new, diluted proposals will allow national governments to decide if sanctions are required for companies who don't reach the 40% mark. Equalities minister Maria Miller said in a speech today that this was "special treatment which undermined the business case" and only succeeded in patronising women.
