Air capacity shortage 'costs UK 14bn a year'
The pressure is growing for the Government to take action to boost aviation capacity in the south-east of the UK after Heathrow published a report which found that the absence of a hub airport was costing the country £14bn a year. Consultants Frontier Economics, who carried out the report, predicted that cost could rise to £26bn by 2030. The Coalition has set up the Davies Commission to look into the aviation capacity problem, which will report in 2015.
