Labour demands Crosby rant probe
Labour has demanded the Prime Minister investigate allegations his new election strategist launched a foul-mouthed tirade about Muslims in the run up to this year's mayoral election.
The Conservatives have appointed Australian election guru Lynton Crosby - who masterminded Boris Johnson's election successes - to lead their 2015 campaign.
But according to reports, in the lead up to this year's London vote Mr Crosby urged Mr Johnson to concentrate on winning support from traditional Conservatives, not "f***ing Muslims".
Labour's shadow minister without portfolio Michael Dugher has written to the Prime Minister insisting Mr Crosby make a public statement about the allegations.
"Mr Crosby has been given the opportunity to deny using these words, and has refused to do so," the letter said.
"How you choose to run your own Party, and the attitudes of the people you choose to appoint, is of course a matter for you.
"However, I hope that you will fully investigate the claims that Mr Crosby used such appalling language against Muslims and that if they are true, or if Mr Crosby continues to be unable to deny them, then you will condemn them and refuse to give someone with such views a role in your Party."
