Coulson and Brooks charged over payments
Andy Coulson and Rebekah Brooks will be charged with making improper payments to officials, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.
Five News International journalists in total have been charged by the CPS as part of Operation Elveden, which investigates improper payments.
The others charged are Clive Goodman, John Kay, and Bettina Jordan-Barber.
Some of the charges relate to the acquisition of a Palace phone directory known as the "green book" which includes contact details for the Royal household.
For Mr Coulson and Rebekah Brooks, the charges are in addition to original charges made as part of Operation Weeting, which relates to phone hacking.
