Hewitt, Hoon and Byers suspended

Hewitt, Hoon and Byers suspended
Geoff Hoon, Patricia Hewitt and Stephen Byers have been suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party following an undercover report by Channel 4's 'Dispatches' showing them discussing how to influence policy and gain access to ministers in return for money. Earlier, Downing Street, Lord Adonis and Harriet Harman strongly rejected Tory demands for further investigation into the matter.

Thomas Paine

MPs for hire and Ministers open to giving favours to their mates with no questions asked! Not really a surprise is it. They are all thieving scoundrels, or have connived in the continuing corruption through keeping quiet. What is so depressing is that we seem to have no levers, short of bloody revolution, to make them change.

Silent Hunter

That's a fair and logical point Thomas - remember, a revolution only requires a few brave souls to stand up and be counted - the first few pebbles rolling down a hillside, to trigger the avalanche that sweeps away this corrupt system of government that we all now suffer under.

Simon Castle

Absolutely even the airbrushed Dave Cameron milked the allowances system for as much as he could until he was told by Kelly that it was wrong to claim for additional expenses when you only have one mortgage. So even the man who wants to be the next prime minister thought it was right that the tax payer to buy him a mansion in Oxfordshire. Its a scandal really that he tried to make political capital out of it when he had claimed as much as he could in his first year in the commons - in one year being the single biggest claimant. Wow if he can get away with it everyone can. I mean what kind of an example is that. We are all in it together - I think not!

Stepney

Wow. In a game in which G.Brown is a positive liability in his own team's penalty area, this is a stunning own goal. Have an enquiry which wouldn't have to report until after the election? Or deny that corruption, which has tendrils stretching into his own cabinet, is an issue worth bothering about. This is an alarmingly bad response. The public will draw their own conclusions. A startlingly poor political move. Ouch.

Byers v Adonis

well one of them must be lying...., and sadly I suspect it's Lord Adonis.

Silent Hunter

No wonder Gordon wants to keep THIS under wraps LOL What a bunch of absolute crooks these ex Labour Ministers (& 1 Tory MP) are. Keir Hardy must be weeping into his cloud to see what these shysters have made of his once, honest and decent political party. If YOU intend to vote Labour after this . . . then you're as big a crook as any of these Labour MP's.
