Leveson to report on 29 November
The Leveson Inquiry will publish its report into the culture and standards of the press on 29 November.
The Prime Minister will issue a statement to the House of Commons on the same day, while MPs will hold a debate on the report's recommendations on Monday 3 December.
Downing Street said this morning that a limited number of Government figures would see the report in advance to help them prepare a response. "A small number of people will receive limited prior access," said a Number 10 spokeswoman. "The list is to be agreed by Lord Leveson."
The Culture Secretary Maria Miller had this morning told the Commons Lord Leveson would report before the end of the month. An "overwhelming prerequisite” for any new regulator would be to earn the trust of the public and offer “robust and full redress for victims”, she told MPs.
