European budget talks to return in 2013
European leaders will meet again in early 2013 to try to come to a deal on the EU budget, after negotiations ended yesterday without conclusion.
David Cameron said the deal proposed by other European leaders was "not good enough", but he faces an uphill struggle to secure a cash freeze in the UK's contribution.
Europe Minster David Lidington indicated the Government was united in its stance on the negotiations.
"We’ve adopted a principle here which is that the actual amount spent by the EU should at most increase by no more than inflation over the next seven years No, there is a complication. This is something that Prime Minister has said in public again and again and again, which the Deputy Prime Minister has supported very openly," he told Today on BBC Radio 4.
