Dorries 'must rebuild trust'

Dorries 'must rebuild trust'
Nadine Dorries will not be allowed back in the Tory party unless she can prove she has rebuilt trust with her colleagues and her constituents, party sources revealed today.

The Mid Bedfordshire MP, who returned from her "I'm A Celebrity" exploits in Australia yesterday, remains suspended from the Conservative whip after a 15-minute meeting with the Chief Whip Sir George Young in the House of Commons.

A Tory spokesman told PoliticsHome: "The whip has not been restored and nor will it be until she proves she has rebuilt bridges with her constituents, her association and her Parliamentary colleagues."

Ms Dorries has said she is "confident" her suspension from the Conservative whip will be lifted after her meeting with Chief Whip Sir George Young today.

The backbench MP has drawn widespread criticism over her appearance on the reality show, and was suspended from the party after former Chief Whip Andrew Mitchell denied giving her permission to take time off. But she told ITV she had "a lovely chat" with Sir George, and they planned to meet for further discussion next week.
