New powers for supermarket watchdog
The supermarket watchdog will be given new powers to fine retailers who treat suppliers “unlawfully or unfairly”, the Government has announced.

The Groceries Code Adjudicator will also be given the right to ‘name and shame’ the guilty parties if it breaches the Groceries Code.

Business minister Jo Swinson said the fining power sent a “strong message to retailers that compliance with the Code is not optional”.
