Govt announces adoption overhaul

Govt announces adoption overhaul
The Government is reforming the adoption system to make it easier for prospective parents to adopt.

In a move "warmly welcomed" by the British Association for Adoption and Fostering, would-be adopters will now be able to see the list of children waiting to be placed.

Labour said it would "look carefully at the reforms, adding that more needed to be done to enable adoptive families to get the right amount of support and advice.

Shadow Children's Minister Lisa Nandy said: "The Government must ensure it also provides sufficient support for foster families and children in residential care too."
