BRC rues 'sluggish' Christmas spending
December was an “underwhelming and sluggish” month for British retailers, despite an 18% boost in internet sales, the British Retail Consortium has said.

Helen Dickinson, the BRC’s director general, said there were “few signs” of significant improvements for retailers in the near future.

“I think what these results show is that Christmas trading was neither a cause for celebration, but not a complete disaster either,” she told the Today programme.
