NAO warns on infrastructure
An over-reliance on the private sector to pay for the Government's energy, waste and rail projects could risk raising the cost for consumers, the National Audit Office has said. Over 64% of the assets of the Government's new infrastructure programmes are expected to be owned and financed by the private ­sector. The NAO's warning came as it was revealed 60,000 construction jobs were lost last year.
