Commons boundary vote defeat

Commons boundary vote defeat
MPs have voted to delay the plan to redraw constituency boundaries until at least 2018 after the Liberal Democrats joined Labour and minority parties to defeat the Conservatives.

MPs rejected a government motion which would have thrown out a Lords amendment delaying the reforms by 334 votes to 292.

Reports suggest that at least four Conservative MPs, including former leadership contender David Davis, voted against the motion.

Former Defence Secretary Liam Fox attacked the Lib Dems, calling them "deeply dishonourable" for failing to back the changes.
