Blair urges Ed to produce policies
Ed Miliband must translate his vision of One Nation into tangible policies to prove Labour remains the party of “reformers”, Tony Blair has said.
His comments come after research from the Fabian Society found Labour’s rise in support had come from disaffected Liberal Democrats, rather than bringing in former Conservative voters.
Mr Blair welcomed the One Nation vision, but warned that the Opposition needed to set out real policies.
I don’t think there’s a problem with the vision, actually. I think what there will be is a big challenge when it comes to how do you translate that vision into practical policy and that’s for later in this year when the Labour party will start to unveil its policy," he said on the Andrew Marr Show.
"It will be important for the Labour party to show it as reformers – they are reformers and they are able to reform public services, welfare, the state and so on as well as to protect people who are vulnerable.”
