Govt defeat on Leveson in the Lords

Govt defeat on Leveson in the Lords
The Government has suffered a defeat in the House of Lords, with peers voting to implement an arbitration service, based on the recommendations of Lord Leveson.

Peers voted 272 votes to 141, a majority of 131, to introduce the service.

Ministry of Justice minister Lord McNally abstained from the vote, with Tory rebel peers including Lord Fowler, Lord Ashcroft, Lord Astor and Lord Hurd.
