PM 'delighted' at Ofgem proposals
David Cameron is "delighted" at proposals brought forward by the energy regulator to make tariffs simpler, he has said.
"I'm delighted that Ofgem are taking that forward. The package announced today is a huge step towards energy bills that are more fair for everyone," the Prime Minister said. "This is about putting people before profits."
Lib Dem Energy Secretary Ed Davey told Radio 5Live the plan would make things easier for consumers to understand.
"It’s also going to makes sure ... [it’s] a lot simpler and a lot easier for consumers to navigate so they can actually see what is the best deal, so they can switch and get a much better deal for them and their families,” he argued.
The plans, due to come into force in the summer, cap tariff options to make it easier for consumers to compare contracts between different firms.
