£50m West Coast fiasco bill - PAC
The Department for Transport showed a "complete lack of common sense" in its handling of the West Coast Main Line franchise, the Public Acounts Committee has said.

Margaret Hodge, the PAC's chair, said the DfT "made fundamental errors" in calculating required capital levels and had "failed to learn from previous disasters".

The committee's report found that the fiasco would cost the taxpayer £50m "at the very least".
