Hunt may review NHS regulations

Hunt may review NHS regulations
The Liberal Democrats are putting pressure on Jeremy Hunt to rewrite NHS regulations which Labour say will lead to backdoor privatisation of the health service.

Sources have told the Guardian the Health Secretary is to review the guidelines published next week to avoid a Liberal Democrat rebellion at the party's spring conference. The Telegraph reports that Lib Dem and Labour peers will join forces to oppose the new rules when the Lords consider the changes early next month.

The Government's NHS efficiency drive is also under the spotlight, with the Mirror reporting that £543m has already been spent bailing out hospitals who are struggling to make ends meet.
